Lighthouse To Lighthouse Mountain Biking
Date: 8-9 FEBRUARY 2014
The Course
The Lighthouse to Lighthouse Mountain Bike Ride kicks off on the Saturday from the historic Danger Point Lighthouse near Gansbaai at 7:00. The route then follows old wagon trails used more than a century ago. Meandering through spectacular Fynbos the route takes you along gravel roads and farm trails.
Privately owned property gets opened for the Lighthouse to Lighthouse riders and allows for beautiful seashore views and takes you next to an area known for its shipwrecks. After enjoying the sights, cast your sights to the Lighthouse at the most southern tip of Africa.
Agulhas Caravan Park is the resting place for the evening, where a delicious meal and well-earned rest can be had. After breakfast the marathon heads back to Gansbaai. The route takes you through the quaint village of Elim and then heads into Gansbaai with stunning views of Walker Bay.
